FootballHub

Privacy

Your privacy, in plain English.

What Football Hub collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it. It covers the website, the app, and the iPhone and Mac apps.

1. Who we are.

Football Hub is run by Matthew Burns and Keaton Thomas, based in the United Kingdom and trading as Football Hub. We are the data controller for the personal information this policy describes, which means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for it.

Our address is PR5 6FZ, United Kingdom, and you can email us at info@football-hub.co.uk.

2. What this covers.

This policy covers the website at football-hub.co.uk, the app at app.football-hub.co.uk, the Football Hub iPhone app, which shows the app in its own window, and the Football Hub menu bar app for Mac. Cookies and what is kept in your browser are set out in full on our cookies page.

3. What we collect.

When you visit the website

Nothing that identifies you, unless you use the contact form or accept analytics cookies. The contact form takes your name, email address, what your message is about and the message itself. While you send it, your IP address is used to limit how many messages one connection can send and, through Google reCAPTCHA, to tell people from spam bots. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how you use the website: the pages you visit, how you arrived, your device and browser, and roughly where you are. It never sees your name or email address.

Your account

Your name, email address and password, which we store only in scrambled form, so nobody here can read it. Your date of birth, which we ask for when you join to check you are 18 or over, and your mobile number if you choose to give it. The six-digit code that confirms your email address. When you accepted the terms, and which version. Your plan, your Hub Credits and your preferences, such as the bookmakers you have hidden. When you last signed in and were last active. If you sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook, we receive your account number with that company and your email address (and your name the first time). We do not keep the photo, profile link or anything else they send.

Payments

Stripe sells our plans and Hub Credits to you as the merchant of record and takes every payment, on its own pages, so we never see your full card number. We send Stripe your name and email address to set you up as a customer. Stripe tells us your card's brand and its last four digits, which we keep so we can show you which card is on file, along with your plan, its dates, your top-ups and any promotion code you used. Invoices stay with Stripe, and we fetch them when you or your receipt email need one.

What you put into the app

Your questions to The Analyst and its answers, each chat's title and the match, club or player it is about. Your match and player watchlists, player notes, favourite teams and My Ledger selections. API keys you create, of which we keep only a scrambled copy and the last four characters. Bug reports you send: your message, the page you were on, your browser, screen size, time zone and language, any errors on the page, an optional screenshot, and a copy of your email address and plan. And the reason you give if you cancel.

How you use the app

  • The pages you open. While you are signed in, we record each page you open: its address, its title, the match, club or player it is about, whether you were in the iPhone app, and when. We do not record your IP address with it. We keep it for 30 days.
  • Account activity. Sign-ins and sign-outs, and changes to your password, email, profile, API keys and billing, each with the IP address and a rough device label, such as "Chrome on Mac".
  • Sessions. While you are signed in, your session record holds your IP address and your browser's details. It is also what lets you see and sign out your other browsers in Settings.
  • The Analyst. How much each answer used and what it cost us.

The iPhone and Mac apps

The iPhone app sends us your phone's name, the app's version and, if you allow notifications, the token Apple gives us to send match alerts to that phone. It keeps your sign-in in the phone's keychain. If you turn on the Face ID lock, the check happens on your phone and nothing about your face reaches us. The Mac app keeps your email address and an API key in your Mac's keychain and settings, and sends them to us to fetch your data.

People in football

The app shows information about footballers, managers and referees from a licensed football data feed: names, dates of birth, nationalities, photos, match statistics, and injuries and suspensions as they are publicly reported. If any of it is about you and you have a question or an objection, email us.

4. How we use it and why.

The law needs a reason, a lawful basis, for every use. Here is each use, and ours.

What for Lawful basis
Running your account and the app: signing you in, The Analyst's answers, your chats, watchlists, notes, favourite teams and My Ledger Contract: it is the service you signed up for
Taking payments, running your plan and Hub Credits, and sending receipts and billing emails Contract; keeping payment records is a legal obligation (tax)
Sending the emails your account needs: your sign-in code, password resets, receipts, cancellation and membership emails Contract
Making sure members are 18 or over Legitimate interests: Football Hub is only for people aged 18 or over
Contacting you about your account, such as when an email has not reached you. Never for marketing Legitimate interests: looking after your account. Ask us and we will remove it
Keeping accounts and the app secure: sign-in limits, checks on new sign-ups, the account activity log and session records Legitimate interests: security and preventing abuse
Understanding how the app is used so we can improve it: the pages members open, and how much The Analyst is used Legitimate interests: improving the app. You can object at any time
Helping you when something goes wrong: bug reports, and reading a chat's question and answer for up to seven days Legitimate interests: support and fixing problems
Replying to the contact form, and keeping spam out of it Legitimate interests
Measuring visits to the website with Google Analytics Consent, only if you accept, and you can change your mind
Showing football data about players, managers and referees Legitimate interests: a football analysis service built on publicly reported football data

We only send the emails your account needs. No newsletters, no marketing, and we never pass your email address on for anyone else's marketing. The Analyst's chances are about matches, not about you: we make no decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Who we share it with.

We never sell your information and never share it for advertising. These companies handle it for us, each only for the job below.

The people who run Football Hub can see members' account details, account activity and the pages they have opened, and, for up to seven days, the questions and answers in a chat. We look only to support members, prevent abuse and improve the app. We will also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our members, the public or ourselves.

6. Outside the UK.

Our servers are in the UK, but some of the companies above are based in, or handle information in, the United States or elsewhere. Where they do, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations, by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the company is certified, or by the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

Stripe and our AI model provider keep their own records under their own policies.

8. Your rights.

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, object to how we use it (including the record of pages you open), and ask for the information you gave us in a form you can take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time: for website analytics, that is Cookie Settings at the foot of every page.

Email info@football-hub.co.uk from the address on your account. It is free, and we will reply within a month.

You can also delete your account yourself, in Settings › Profile › Delete Account in the app. That cancels any plan straight away and deletes your account with your chats, watchlists, notes, My Ledger, API keys, devices, account activity and the record of pages you opened. Payment records stay for six years, for tax. Bug reports stay unless you ask us to delete them. Stripe keeps its own record of your payments.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first, so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

9. Everything else.

Under 18s. Football Hub is only for people aged 18 or over, and we ask for your date of birth when you join. We do not knowingly hold information about anyone younger, and if we find we do, we delete the account.

Keeping it safe. Everything travels over an encrypted connection. Passwords, API keys and email codes are only ever stored scrambled. Card details stay with Stripe. Only the people who run Football Hub can reach members' information.

Changes. If we change this policy we will update the date below, and if a change matters to members we will tell them by email or in the app first.
